Meet The Odd Couple Cast.
In the mid-1980s, legendary playwright Neil Simon did something unusual. He took one of his best-known works, “The Odd Couple,” and adapted it for female leads.
Felix Unger, the fastidious man whose marriage has imploded, becomes Florence Unger, a fussy housewife and mother whose husband leaves her. Oscar Madison, the slovenly sports writer, becomes Olive Madison, a sloppy, carefree, and frequently broke TV news producer.
Rather than Friday night poker with the boys, there’s Friday night Trivial Pursuit with the girls. Add in the two Constanzuela brothers and you have a show that is bound to bring you a ton of laughs.
The Odd Couple Female Version breaths new life into this classic story, as the ladies come together to support, encourage, and help their friend, Florence, rebuild her life. Through humor, we find that the best place to experience a life revival is in community.
As we get ready to open this hysterical show, let’s go behind the scenes and meet the cast!
MEET OLIVE
👟 Kati Meyer plays the leading role of OLIVE MADISON. Olive is the female counterpart to the original play's Oscar Madison. Olive is attractive, professional, vibrant, active, quick-witted, big-hearted, relentlessly sloppy, and careless when it comes to the routine concerns of her personal life! She is a woman seriously in need of order in her life.
You've seen Kati in many productions at Legacy, including Babette in Beauty and the Beast, Mrs. Dilber in A Christmas Carol, and one of the Pigeon Sisters in our original production of The Odd Couple. This is Kati's first leading role, and she carries the show with strength, class, and a wicked sense of humor.
About her character, Kati says, “I love Olive's sarcastic sassiness and that her good heart still shines through. She's tough, tender, quick-witted, and always willing to lend a helping hand."
MEET FLORENCE
👠 Kandee Arencibia plays the leading role of FLORENCE UNGER. She plays the female counterpart to the original play's Felix Unger. Florence is attractive, a homemaker/housewife, and very recently separated from her husband. Florence is extremely "pulled together" (obsessively so), pathologically organized, and neat. She even sanitizes the telephone cord! Her personality is the complete antithesis of Olive's personality.
You've seen Kandee in many productions and concerts at Legacy, including Belle in Beauty and the Beast, The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol, and as a soloist in many of our concerts. Kandee's portrayal of Florence Unger is heartwarming and heartwrenching at the same time. You feel her pain, her confusion, and through humor, you see her revival.
About her character, Kandee says, “I love Florence's drive to keep on going and doing. Even when she says she’s giving up, the actual ‘steps’ she takes reflect her drive to keep moving forward. As someone who all too readily sits and wallows without taking any action, I admire that Florence, at the very least, keeps cleaning and cooking. Lol. And ultimately, she simply keeps DOING. I love that.”
MEET RENEE
🎲 Sanae Triest plays the supporting role of RENEE. Renee is a wisecracker and a bit of a complainer as well. She is Sylvie's best friend and can be very plain-spoken, especially when she points out Olive's failings as a hostess . . . and then Florence's! Even though she tends to complain, there is nowhere she'd rather be than with the girls for Trivial Pursuit game night!
You've seen Sanae in many roles at Legacy, including The Commissioner in Murder in Bohemia, Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, and The French Chef in Murder at the Bake-Off. Sanae's portrayal of Renee is funny, relatable, and searching for someone to love.
About her character, Sanae says, “"I love Renee’s friendship with the girls, especially Sylvie. I also like that she is care-free and her spirit of living in the moment and not worrying too much. "
MEET MICKEY
🚓 Cindy Campbell plays the supporting role of MICKEY the Cop. Mickey is a New York City police officer with a heart of gold and an organizer and problem solver who cares for her friends deeply. Although she is in a rather dull marriage, she loves her husband and does her best to take care of him and her friends.
You've seen Cindy in many roles at Legacy, including Ma in The Hope Table, Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, and Oiser in Steel Magnolias. Cindy's portrayal of Mickey is remarkable. She is the friend everyone wants and everyone should strive to be.
About her character, Cindy says, “"Mickey is a kind and caring protector. She would do anything for her friends. Their happiness brings her happiness. We need more Mickey's in the world."
MEET VERA
👛 Angie Lofton plays the supporting role of VERA. Vera is a bit literal-minded and slow to get the point that everyone else gets instantly. She always seems "a few beats behind the conductor" but is very sweet and lovable. Although somewhat spacey, she's very funny even though she doesn't realize it.
You've seen Angie on our stage in roles like Fan in A Christmas Carol, and Violet in It's A Wonderful Life. Angie's portrayal of Vera is endearing as she takes Neil Simon's character and gives her new life.
About her character, Angie says, “"Vera is light-hearted and sees the best in others. She’s confident in a non-threatening way and always speaks of her life with pride."
MEET SYLVIE
🐧 Delinda Giles plays the supporting role of SYLVIE. Sylvie is highly energized and a wise-cracker. She can get irritated with her friends, especially Vera, but has a good sense of humor, especially about her husband.
You've seen Delinda in productions and concerts on our stage, most notably Truvy in Steel Magnolias. Her portrayal of Sylvie is funny and relatable as she walks through the ups and downs of a girls' night out!
About her character, Delinda says, “I love that despite her often sarcastic and humorous facade, Sylvie cares deeply about her small group of friends and considers them an extension of her family. She would not hesitate to drop everything to be there for them...that is something I relate with and makes me feel connected with her on a personal level.
MEET MANOLO
🌹 Maltt Whithers plays the supporting role of MANOLO. Manolo is handsome, very well-groomed, and Spanish. He navigates the girls confusion of his Castilian accent with great humor! Manolo is every woman's dream date and showers both Olive and Florence with attention.
Maltt is new to Legacy's stage, but not to the theatre itself. He is a delightful person and a gift to Legacy and our community.
About his character, Maltt says, "I love that Manolo is living now in a country that is completely new to him and is intrigued by the people he meets in New York City."
MEET JESUS
🇪🇸 Steven Bain plays the supporting role of JESUS. Jesus is Manolo's younger brother. He is very handsome, well-groomed, suave, and romantic. He is very emotional and truly appreciates Florence.
You've seen Steven in many roles at Legacy, including George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life, The Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol, and Kenneth in Murder in Bohemia. Steven's portrayal of Jesus is absolutely hysterical. You won't want to miss the two Catillian brothers in this production.
About his character, Steven says, “The thing that intrigues me the most is the fact that the brothers left everything they knew, after hardship, and set out to begin a new life. However, the culture and traditions of their origins are things they still adhere too even after leaving everything else behind.”
