The Significance of our Logo.
When we decided to open Legacy for Act Two, I knew we needed a new logo . . . a new design . . . a fresh start. It may seem odd that an olive tree would be the logo for a theatrical ministry. You may expect a comedy/tragedy mask, music notes, or something like that. But those things just didn't seem to encompass our vision for Act Two. The olive tree, after some research and prayer, seemed perfect.
THE SYMBOLISM OF THE OLIVE TREE.
The olive tree symbolizes many traits that we want to see cultivated into Legacy's Act Two through the beauty of music, the arts, and the love of Jesus:
Friendship
Hope
Light
Victory
Peace
Healing
Freedom
Reconciliation
A SYMBOL of LONGEVITY.
A single olive tree can live for thousands of years, outliving the generation who planted it. An olive tree is a living legacy.
It begins bearing fruit after only a few years and continues to bear fruit into its old age. Whether young or old, you have a place to "bear fruit,"; sharing your gifts and talents at Legacy.
When you cut an olive tree down, it continues to grow back. Shoots from the roots continue to grow, ensuring the tree exists for generations. No matter what has tried to "cut you down," there is growth that can still happen.
An olive tree's trunk is often twisted and gnarled after growing back despite the many blades trying to kill it. Still, an olive tree is a symbol of great beauty. Her beauty is in her strength to endure.
A SYMBOL of HEALING & LIGHT.
In ancient times, the oil of an olive tree was used for cleansing and healing.
The golden color symbolizes light.
A SYMBOL of PEACE.
In the Bible, after the flood, Noah sent out a dove to see if there was dry land. The dove came back holding an olive branch. The olive branch became a symbol of peace and reconciliation.
As we turn up the lights on Act Two, our prayer is that all who come through our doors experience hope, light, and peace. Whether a member of our Encore Players or our School of the Arts community, whether in the audience or on a stage, whether in a workshop or behind the scenes . . . we pray that you find healing if your heart is broken. We hope you find community and a family in people who have a like-minded vision to bring a bit of sparkle to our town. We pray that you find and nurture gifts and talents that you never knew you had. We pray that you bear fruit.
You may feel like you've been cut down.
You may feel like you have no more "fruit" to give.
You may feel like you are too old or too young to be seen or heard.
You may feel like you've lost your light.
You may feel like you need to heal what's broken.
You may feel like you need a friend.
You may feel lonely.
You may feel like there is no place to turn.
You may feel like there is a song in you waiting to burst out . . .
If any of these sound like you . . . you are welcome here.
There is something only you can do.
There is something only you can say.
You have a legacy to leave and a legacy to give.
