Why Should I Audition?
As we head into our first Christmas Season of our "Act Two," we are looking for new faces and new talent to join us on stage for our upcoming Christmas productions, O Holy Night: A Family Christmas Concert and A Christmas Carol.
All of the people you see on Legacy's stage are community volunteers. No one is a paid performer. We all give of our time and talents to bring a bit of joy and beauty to our community through The Arts, and we would love for you to join us.
Here are a few reasons we think auditioning for a production can enhance your life and the lives of those around you.
Theater is a Family.
A cast is a group of people who become your support system for the time you all rehearse and perform together. They're all there to do what you want to do, and you truly become a family together. Over the years, I have seen marriages come out of Legacy, lasting friendships, and deep bonds that continue far after the curtain comes down on a show.
When you are in a Legacy show, you all become a part of an experience that will be shared and remembered by all of you for years to come.
2. Growth.
There are many forms of knowledge that stem from theatre performances. For instance, self-knowledge is instilled in both the performer and the audience, as we have the opportunity to look inward. The word theatre derives from the Latin meaning, “The Seeing Place”. Through theater, we are able to see ourselves and others with new eyes. We are able to understand how we affect those around us, and we open ourselves for self-improvement.
3. Bring Change.
A good theatre performance can motivate us to want to make changes in ourselves and our world. As we talked about above, GROWTH can be the result of community theatre, which might give someone the boost they need in order to make a difference. By looking inward and gaining knowledge, we are given a new prospective on our environment, which can spark creativity. With these new creative insight, we can try to make the world a better place, one family and one community at a time.
4. Find Your Gifts.
A community member auditioned for one of our Encore Senior Theater performances earlier this year. After the show was done and the final bow was taken, she said to me, “I never thought I could have done anything like this. It is the best time I have had in my whole life.” Theater helps you to find gifts and talents you never thought you had and bring them out into the open to be a blessing to others.
5. Give Back.
Legacy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community theater. Our entire mission centers on giving back to our community. Each and everyone of us has been blessed to be a blessing to others. When you audition and perform in a production, you are giving back. You are giving your time, your talents, and your gifting so another can experience the love, joy, healing, and rest that can be found inside of Legacy.
These are just a small handful of reasons that auditioning and performing in a show enhances our lives. We could have mentioned many more. But for now . . . LET’S AUDITION! And if you have any other questions about auditioning for a Legacy show, want to share some concerns you have about auditioning, or just need some more information, email us at contact@legacytheatercompany.org or ask in the comments! 🎭
